Yarl restaurant's boss clearly knows that his kitchen hood is disturbing the entire neighbourhood with its loud and thunderous noise but he doesn't care. He only thinks of his business and profit. Should we let people like him triumph in their evil deeds? I would also like to make it known to the world that should anything happen to me, the police should go to yarl restaurant to investigate. Many of you may wonder why are there so many articles about yarl restaurant's air and noise pollution program. Why start a blog just to write about this program? Why start a Facebook for this program? Do you think we like to do this? We certainly have better things to do other than this but why spend so much time writing about yarl restaurant's air and noise pollution program? We are victims of yarl restaurant's air and noise pollution program who are dying slowly from its loud and thunderous noise but there is nothing we can do about it. Every article here is written in great pain as we are suffering intensely from yarl restaurant's evil deeds. To be frank, I am actually very sleepy now but cannot sleep because of the excessive noise coming yarl restaurant's kitchen hood. I have no choice but to write this article. Even if nothing can be done to ease our pain, at least we do not have to suffer in silence. Let the whole world know how we, as citizens of Malaysia, are suffering as though we are living in a lawless country since nothing can be done to preserve our most basic rights i.e. the right to sleep. The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) seems to be encouraging yarl restaurant's air and noise pollution program by their inaction. What is even worse is that the DBKL is trying to cover up for yarl restaurant by telling a lot of stupid lies - so stupid that even a child finds it difficult to believe. In other countries (even in India) such a selfish and irresponsible restaurant owner would have been fined and even jailed but in Malaysia, noise pollution victims suffer at their own risk because no one can help them.
Can the members of the public please help us? Malaysians may not have the right to a safe and peaceful living but we do have the right to punish the evildoers. Let us work together to let the Malaysian Government know that our most basic rights should not be infringed - in this case the right not to be waken up in the wee hours of the morning by loud and thunderous noise when we are still in our deep sleep. Are we asking for too much? We have already accepted the fact that we cannot stay in our bedrooms day and night. But why can't yarl restaurant let us sleep a little bit longer in the morning? Why chase us out of our bedrooms with such loud and thunderous noise in the wee hours of the morning? Why do we have to suffer from sleep deprivation? Why is it that after 57 years of independence, we are still living in a cowboy town i.e. anyone can come into your housing area, make loud and thunderous noise all the time and chase us out of our bedrooms in the wee hours of the morning but we cannot say or do anything about it? Apart from the noise, yarl restaurant is continuously throwing out curry particles into the air to contaminate the clothes that we put out to dry. Just imagine the feeling of satisfaction that you have after you have done your washing but when you put out your clothes to dry, they are soaked with curry particles from yarl restaurant's kitchen. In other words, we don't even have a place to dry our clothes. Just like the Lynas and Cyanide victims, all we can do is to move away if we cannot stand the sufferings that these evildoers are causing us. Do you know how painful it is to have lived in a place all your lives only to find that you have suddenly become homeless just because some selfish people are doing something in the neighbourhood to threaten your lives and well-being? Do you know how painful it is to hear noise all day long? We cannot stay in our bedrooms unless we turn on some kind of music/songs to cover up yarl restaurant's kitchen hood noise. This would mean that we must listen to some kind of noise all day long.
Have you ever imagined how quiet and peaceful it is at 5.55 a.m. in the morning (particularly a Sunday morning)? Anyone in their right senses would not want to talk loudly or even turn on the music loudly at this hour of the day because we know that it is just not right to make noise at such an early hour in the morning. As for yarl restaurant's selfish and irresponsible boss, it seems to be alright for him to turn on his loud and thunderous kitchen hood with its loud motor sound at this hour of the day. This is nothing new to us as we have been suffering continuously from his noise pollution program since January 2013 without the right to say or do anything about it. What is even worse is that the noisy kitchen hood may even turn it on as early as 5.20 a.m. in the morning chasing everyone out of their bedrooms when they are still in their deep sleep! It has happened before and yarl restaurant's boss is likely to do it again if we keep quiet for some time. Whenever anyone complains, he would turn on his noisy kitchen hood a little bit later i.e. at 6.45 a.m. After a few days, he would revert back to his old habit - turning on his loud and deafening kitchen hood earlier and earlier with each passing day from 6.45 a.m. → 6.35 a.m. →6.30 a.m. →6.20 a.m. and today at 5.55 a.m. If no one complains, he can even turn it on at 5.20 a.m.! This is a truly a gross transgression of human rights but he is doing it with his eyes wide open ignoring all the sufferings that he is causing to others. Should we encourage this kind of selfishness and irresponsible behavior in our society? Let us hope that the members of the public would not give their support to selfish people who only think of their business and profits at the expense of others. In actual fact, yarl restaurant's boss wants to turn on his noisy kitchen hood at 5.00 a.m. in the morning or perhaps even earlier than that. At 5.00 a.m., the workers are already busy preparing food. That is why he is trying to turn on his noisy kitchen hood earlier and earlier and see how we react. If no one says anything when he turns on his noisy kitchenhood at 5.00 a.m., then it is most likely that he would stick to that time or even earlier. After all, if he could turn it on at 5.00 a.m., then why not at 4.30 a.m.? The difference is only 30 minutes!
How should we describe yarl restaurant's boss? Let us take a look at the things that he does before we come to any conclusions:
- He knows that he is making loud and thunderous noise all the time but refuses to do anything to reduce the noise. He even lied to Fong Kui Lun (MP for this area)'s assistant last August that he would do something about the noise without any intention to do so.
- He purposely turns on his loud and thunderous kitchen hood in the wee hours of the morning when he knows that everyone is still sleeping. He just couldn't be bothered about others as long as he can make money.
- Does he care about hygiene when he can even turn the rubbish dumps in this area into his open air kitchen and prepare food there? Please click here to see the other open air kitchen of yarl restaurant. Can you imagine yarl restaurant's workers preparing food here in this very spot where the rubbish heap once was? To be exact, on the 19th and 20th of April 2014. This place is just opposite yarl restaurant. When yarl restaurant's workers prepared their food here, they also blocked the back door making it difficult for people to go in and out. (Although this rubbish heap is cleared, there is still rubbish here as this place is the flat's rubbish dump). Yarl restaurant started operation in January 2013 and the pictures above clearly tell you how yarl restaurant's workers prepare food all these time!
- What is even worse about yarl restaurant's boss is when he read about the articles in this blog, he still refused to do anything to reduce the noise. On the contrary, he started making criminal threats to scare us. Just what kind of a person he is?
As yarl restaurant's victims, we have been going through a period of hell since yarl restaurant started operating in January last year and these sufferings would go on as long as yarl restaurant continues to plague us with its loud and deafening kitchen hood noise. There is actually no difference between yarl restaurant's noise pollution program and the Lynas Case or Gold for me, Cyanide for You Case because the health hazards caused by noise pollution are no less serious than radiation and cyanide. Yarl restaurant's noise pollution program is really too stressful for us to bear and we have come to a point where we cannot take it anymore. Our health is also deteriorating because of it. Apart from increasing our property taxes, it seems that there isn't anything which that the DBKL could do.
In Malaysia, there are no laws to protects our basic rights. If someone were to put up a loud and thunderous kitchen hood outside your window and turns it on non-stop day and night, chasing you out of your bedroom as early as at 5.20 a.m. and forbidding you to sleep at 11.40 p.m., you cannot say or do anything about it. You can only bear the noise with fortitude. If you can't bear it, then go and buy a new house and move away. How many Malaysians are suffering from tinnitus because of this kind of noise? Similarly, if someone were to build a nuclear plant in front of your house, you will have to bear the radiation that comes from it with fortitude. Malaysians are not rich. Many of them can only afford to buy one house in their lifetime and even that they have to pay like hell. Should we allow selfish and irresponsible people to triumph in their evil deeds? Let us hope that the public would sympathize with us and help us to put an end to yarl restaurant's noise pollution program. If there is nothing to cook, then yarl restaurant's noise pollution victims do not have to suffer anymore. Please do not let selfish and irresponsible people who sacrifice others for the sake of their business to triumph over their evil deeds. We may not be protected by the law but there is something which all of us can do. Let us all boycott this kind of people and their business so that they will not triumph over their evil deeds.
Is it really necessary to eat in a restaurant? Do you know that it is much more hygienic to cook your own food? Why eat food prepared at the rubbish dumps when you can cook your own food in your own kitchen which is much, much cleaner than yarl restaurant's open air kitchen? And of course, it is certainly cheaper to cook your own food!
