PREPARING FOODS NEAR GARBAGE DUMPS CAN CAUSE FOOD POISONING

Yesterday I did not write because when yarl restaurant chased me out of my bedroom at 6.20 a.m. in the morning, I was too sleepy to write after having a late night visiting a sick relative. To be frank, I was rather reluctant to visit this sick relative not because I was cruel but because I knew what sufferings I had to endure if I were to come home late. I slept for about 5 hours when yarl restaurant chased me out of my bedroom with its loud and thunderous kitchen hood noise. I had no choice but to sleep on the sofa in the living room yesterday morning.

As usual, at 6.15 a.m. this morning, yarl restaurant turned on its noisy kitchen hood motor again to chase everyone out of their bedrooms. My children are having their semester break now but even during school holidays, children who stay near yarl restaurant cannot afford to sleep 8 hours a day. This  is very stressful for the children who find it impossible to rest during the holidays or study in their bedrooms because yarl restaurant's kitchen hood is making loud and thunderous noise all the time just outside their bedroom windows. Once this kitchen hood is turned on, it will never stop until late at night. Just imagine how our young children, babies and old folks are going to endure this kind of noise and sleep deprivation everyday of their lives. Even the worst criminals are not tortured so seriously with noise and sleep deprivation every day of their lives. Since no action is taken by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) so far, (don't know why the DBKL is telling so many lies to cover up for yarl restaurant when yarl restaurant's air and noise pollution victims are suffering so intensely day and night) the only thing we can do now is to beg the members of the public to help us. It seems that the only people who can help us are the members of the public. Can the members of the public please help us to boycott yarl restaurant's air and noise program so that we don't have to suffer in hell anymore.

I don't know that Malaysians have no rights until I see how the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is handling yarl restaurant's case. We are here suffering so intensely and are already at the verge of a mental and emotional breakdown but nothing has been done by the DBKL at all to ease our sufferings after more than one year of complaints. And of course I don't understand what our prime minister means by "people first" or "I am for you" when as citizens of Malaysia, we can't even have the right to sleep 8 hours a day. What can Malaysians do when their rights are infringed and the future seems so bleak that you feel like breaking down and cry? Never give up and fight till the end. This is what we intend to do although we have to handle the situation without any help or sympathy. The battle against yarl restaurant's air and noise pollution will go on. We will fight until justice is done. And I hope that all those whose share the same plight like us and those whose rights are trampled underfoot to stand up and defend their rights. Do not just keep quiet and suffer in silence. I hope that the members of the public will respond to our call for help. All they need to do is to boycott yarl restaurant's air and noise pollution program. There are many clean restaurants around where they can go to eat and yarl restaurant is NOT a necessity. Given the filthy way in which foods are prepared at yarl restaurant, it is advisable that the members of the public should eat elsewhere for the sake of their health. Want to know how filthy yarl restaurant is? Please click yarl restaurant's dirty outdoor kitchen, yarl restaurant and bird flu, garbage dump outdoor kitchen and you will know how filthy it is.

Life is not easy for me as I have to come up with an article about yarl restaurant every day. Actually I should be sleeping now but since yarl restaurant does not allow me to sleep, I have no choice but to turn to writing instead. What shall I write about today? Since yarl restaurant's workers like to prepared foods near garbage dumps I would like to write an article about "preparing foods near garbage dumps and food poisoning" .

First of all, let us look at the garbage dumps on the right of yarl restaurant. Can you see the big arrows in the first 3 photos? It is pointing at yarl restaurant's noisy kitchen hood. This is where yarl restaurant's open air kitchen is.

Below are photos of yarl restaurant's open air kitchen and the garbage dump on its left. Look at these pictures carefully. A picture speaks a thousand words. Would  you like to eat foods prepared near garbage dumps? Would you mind paying so much for foods prepared near the garbage dumps? Restaurant foods are not cheap nowadays. Perhaps Malaysians don't mind eating dirty foods. Why is yarl restaurant still allowed to prepare foods near the garbage dumps? Please take note that when the Alam Flora workers empty the bins, they do not wash them and there are many decaying leftovers sticking to the bins for goodness knows how long. Results from the study by researchers at one of the world's leading waste management centres showed that garbage bins could be a breeding ground for a host of bacteria associated with some of the most devastating stomach bugs including salmonella, e.coli, legionella, clostridium and deadly listeria. These are the bacteria that cause food poisoning.

yarl restaurant's workers simply love to prepare foods near stinking garbage dumps as this helps to add flavor to the foods perhaps. (This article is originally posted at 6.28 a.m. this morning and is edited to add the above photo which is taken at a later time).

In actual fact, there are many rats scurrying all over yarl restaurant's outdoor kitchen (you can click here to see photos of yarl restaurant's dirty outdoor kitchen) and of course flies as well since there are so many garbage dumps here. Please remember that yarl restaurant's workers also piss into the drain and food is prepared next to the drain. You can click here to read yarl restaurant's pissing story. Below is an article about cooking near a garbage dump and food poisoning which explains very clearly yarl restaurant's situation and the possibility of its customers suffering food poisoning. (The words in green with purple background are intended to be a comparison between Jharkhand and yarl restaurant). Hope you enjoy reading it. This article about Jharkhand can also be found at

Cooking in the open, eating by a garbage dump

RANCHI: Mid-day meals in Jharkhand have often left a bitter taste in the mouth of school children. They have either fallen sick in large numbers and hospitalised or some have complained of nausea and dysentery. Children have screamed at the sight of dead lizards and snakes on their plate and forced to eat their daal, chawal and sabzi by the side of a stinking garbage dump. (As for yarl restaurant's workers, they are preparing foods near stinking garbage dumps. If you take a walk along the lane where yarl restaurant's workers are preparing food, you will smell rotting garbage. The sight of rats is not uncommon and of course there are crows as well. These crows are very special because they are given the privilege to taste the foods first).

Human resource development secretary Mridula Sinha blamed teachers and members of the village education council for not following strict instructions in cooking and serving the mid-day meal. (The Kuala Lumpur City Hall allows yarl restaurant to prepare foods near garbage dumps at the back lane)

Anuradha Sinha, a teacher at Hesal Primary School, Angara, nearly 30 km from here, said despite their best efforts they cannot maintain 100 per cent hygiene because of poor infrastructure. "We have a proper kitchen in our school but it is practically impossible to cook food here using firewood," she said. (Yarl restaurant has a kitchen but it is too small so the workers have to make use of the garbage dumps nearby to prepare foods)

"The kitchen gets filled with smoke and we almost choke. So we are forced to cook in the open. Which means we have to be very careful that nothing falls in the food," she added. (The flat dwellers here like to dump garbage from their windows which fall onto yarl restaurant's outdoor kitchen where they are preparing foods)

Complaining about grain procurement, she said FCI godowns sometimes cheat them. "The gunny bags that contain the grains weigh not more than 30 to 35 kg. But when we sign the register the weight mentioned is 50 kg," she said.

The surroundings in which students have their lunch often lead to infection. Childag and Hindpiri schools in Ranchi present the worst pictures of poor hygiene. Children sit near garbage dumps to have their lunch. A teacher said, "We cannot imagine sitting in a place like that and eat. But these children have no choice." (Can you imagine yarl restaurant's workers standing near the garbage dumps to prepare foods?)
